Replica Roman Clasp on Hedgwitch shawl 2025
Pastel drawing
Many years ago my sister bought me this clasp from Buster Ancient Farm which is near where she lives and the most incredible living history museum. It is a replica of a roman Roman fibula (brooch) in the shape of tongs forged in the 2th-4th Century BCE. I have drawn it holding together a Hedgewitch Shawl. This was the first knitted shawl I made when I’d begun to be educated on the ethical sourcing of wool. I used seven different British sheep breeds to knit it. The pattern is by Nat Raedwulf.
This drawing is has a black MDF frame with glass and metal hanging cord. It will be well packaged and sent recorded delivery.
This is an original artwork created for the Wheel of the Year exhibition at Oil and Oak Gallery 7th February - 30th April 2025
