Thresholds and Gateways - Sheela Na Gig - Original

I’ve included this to expand what I might mean by thresholds and gateways. This incredible Sheela Na Gig is found on Kilpeck church which is a beautifully adorned and preserved Romanesque church in Herefordshire (I highly recommend both the audioguide you can download before you go and the excellent pub nearby). Some people think that Sheelas were made as talismans to ward off evil spirits, some believe they were fertility symbols and goddesses. This for me is a gateway to connecting with history from a feminist perspective. A tangible celebration of the power and beauty of being a woman and the miracle of a woman’s body.

This drawing is has a black MDF frame with glass and metal hanging cord. It will be well packaged and sent recorded delivery.
