Fire - The Hare

Hares are often called tricksters, quick witted and elusive, ethereal and subversive, a symbol of our wild and ancient landscape, both inner and outer. The hare is linked to the element of fire, the element which cleanses and renews with a deep wisdom and perspective of the bigger picture. For when the fire has burnt away all that is dead, dry and devoid of life, new shoots can appear.

This handkerchief is sewn by me in the caravan I live in on a farm in Mid Wales. The fabric is 100% organic cotton. The approximate size for each handkerchief is 320 mm x 320 mm. 

This artwork was painted in natural pigments for the Oil and Oak Open exhibition in summer 2026.
