Air - The Heron

The ethereal energy of air rules the spring. Air is associated with our minds and thoughts, planning and organisation. The heron is patient, a sentinel, wise, mysterious and graceful. In Celtic mythology the heron is associated with sacred knowledge, a guardian of the subliminal worlds, embodying adaptability, transition and transcendence. Its patient and solitary nature make the heron a symbol of deep contemplation and spiritual understanding.

This handkerchief is sewn by me in the caravan I live in on a farm in Mid Wales. The fabric is 100% organic cotton. The approximate size for each handkerchief is 320 mm x 320 mm. 

This artwork was painted in natural pigments for the Oil and Oak Open exhibition in summer 2026.
