The kitchen is the heart of my home. Despite living in a caravan we have dressers and shelves full of cook books and jars and jars of food and spices from around the world and a lot of locally foraged and preserved food. One of the bedrooms has been converted into a larder and we have a bounty of wild plants and trees surrounding us.
I love it when we begin to see those early greens coming through on ours walks. Spring is a great time to be a forager with Wild Garlic, Jack by the Hedge, Dandelions, Cleavers and Chickweed making their way into wild salads on most days. Our hens are at their most proficient and it's always so exciting when they all start laying again and we have bowls of eggs everywhere. Hopefully by this point our winter stores of fruit have lasted us until the rhubarb is ready and we can add something different to the bottles of apple compote and plums we preserved last year.
With regards to the books, I have included the River Cottage A-Z. River Cottage has had a huge impact on my life and is partly responsible for the path I now find myself on. All the RC books are wonderful, especially the early ones, but this is a lovely big book to settle down with for some serious inspiration. Nigella's How To Eat was my first proper cookbook when I went to University. It was released as an audiobook recently and if you love Nigella then you will love her reading this book to you. Some of it feels a bit outdated now which she admits herself at the beginning of the audiobook bit it is full of indispensable information and tips.
Gill Mellor, who you may know from the River Cottage series', is one of my food heroes. He ran the Pig in A Day course at River Cottage that Eric and I went on a couple of years ago and we could not have had a better teacher. His books, Gather, Time and Root Stem Flower Leaf are highly recommended if you eat seasonally and love everything about food.
The artwork is printed onto 100% recycled 300 gsm card which has a smooth, white finish. This A4 print measures 210 mm x 297 mm.
This design is also available as an organic cotton tea towel.
Each order is wrapped in acid free, unbleached tissue paper and includes a hand written thank you note. I am happy to address this to recipients of gifts at no extra cost. Just let me know in the notes when you place your order.
