Samhain marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of the dark months of the year. It is the end of a cycle of growth with death and ultimately re-birth. This is a time for reflection, for celebration, for sowing the seeds of future plans and remembering, thanking and honouring our ancestors. It is said that the veil between this world and the land of the dead is at its thinnest at this time so we can welcome them into our homes with candles, food and stories.

I have included Mugwort in my design to help ward off any unwanted guests or psychic attacks It would also be an excellent time of year to take some mugwort for lucid dreaming and it's also good for depression and your stomach after eating too many chocolate bats.

The Rowan tree has been used for centuries as protection. Planted by a grave, a boundary or woven into a charm to put by your windows and doors, rowan will keep those evil spirits at bay. The deer skull represents death and the pumpkins and candles require no explanation.

The border for many of my designs illustrates trees chosen for their associations with old customs and beliefs. They are Elder, Oak, Ivy and Holly. I have also included some of the phases of the moon.

Also available as an organic cotton handkerchief.
