Mabon Art prints and booklet
Please note that the handkerchief and large art print are now an updated colourway. If you would like the original, brighter colourway please contact me when ordering. Mabon is the name for the Autumn Equinox. The days and nights are of almost equal length and we can really feel the shift to the darker months of the Wheel of the Year. This design celebrates the abundance of the hedgerows, woodlands and fields at this time of year featuring hips, haws and other fruits plus a selection of mushrooms that can be found.
This is an imagined foraging trip, a beautiful cornucopia woven with wheat, complete with strap to be held over my shoulder as I hunt for nuts, berries and fungi, pausing to cut my mushrooms in half to check that they are edible.
The Mabon zine (printed onto one sheet of paper measuring 297mm x 297mm and folded into four) accompanying the design goes into more detail about the background of this design and includes a recipe for Hawthorn Sauce, a formula for foraged fruit liqueurs, the usual meal plan for the day, a celebration of pressing apples and making cider plus ways to mark the day.
The border for many of my designs illustrates trees chosen for their associations with old customs and beliefs. They are Elder, Oak, Ivy and Holly. I have also included some of the phases of the moon.
The artwork is printed onto 100% recycled 300 gsm card which has a smooth, white finish. This print is available in two sizes: 210mm 210mm and 297 mm x 297 mm. Also available as an organic cotton handkerchief.
Each order is wrapped in acid free, unbleached tissue paper and includes a hand written thank you note. I am happy to address this to recipients of gifts at no extra cost. Just let me know in the notes when you place your order.
